Instant insights, new reports, and more

We’re excited to announce a major update to Opstarts. This update includes new and improved functionality in the following areas:

  • Plan item editors – detailed insight into each item in your plan and improved editor layout
  • Reports – new default reports and report creator
  • Product categories – view charts, reports, and metrics by product group
  • (For Pro users) Improved CAC & COGS functionality

Plan item editors – instant insights into your plan

Ever struggle trying to figure out why you were seeing some result in a spreadsheet? With instant insights in item editors, you’ll never have that problem in Opstarts. Instantly see how changing parameters impact any item in your plan. Change costs, growth rates, churn, or anything else, and Opstarts instantly shows you the results, right in the item editor. Plus each editor now includes a detailed breakdown of how individual item values are being calculated; just open the item from your plan item list to check it out. We’ve also improved the layout to make creating and editing plan items even easier.

Reports – new default reports and easy report creation

Opstarts now includes a set of default summary, Cash Flow, and P&L reports. You can easily customize and save versions of those reports tailored to your needs, or create brand new reports incorporating any data from your plan. (More reports info)

Product categories – charts, reports, and metrics for sets of products

You can now segment your products into groups and view revenue charts, reports, and metrics for those sets of products. For example, you could create categories for Enterprise, SMB, and Consumer products and then analyze each of those segments vs each other. Of course, you can still view everything at the individual product level as well. (More categories info)

(Pro users) – new CAC and COGS interface and allocation

We now allow you to have more finely grained control over how you allocate your expense towards CAC and COGS for metrics calculation. You can even allocate partial amounts towards each bucket, for example an employee helping with both sales and support can be designated as 50% CAC and 50% COGS. We’ve added a CAC/COGS tab in the item editors to make it easy to view and configure these allocations. (More CAC info  More COGS info)
